Minimal Mysteries is a series of 10 episodes, each lasting 2 minutes. The project won the First Federal Fiction Series Contest for Social Media by INCAA, and the series was written and directed by Carlos Essmann and produced by Pedro Braulio Deré, in co-production with El Desto Pictures.

The origin of this series is the short film of the same name, created in 2015 by Carlos Essmann, which won the Sundance Channel Shorts Competition at the Sundance Film Festival London in 2015. It was also selected by festivals such as Visions du Réel (Nyon, Switzerland), GoShort Nijmegen (Netherlands), Cartagena (Murcia, Spain), and Festifreak (La Plata, Argentina), among others. The short film was acquired by Sundance Channel and premiered in over 70 countries in November 2015, with multiple reruns in the following years.

Minimal Mysteries is based on real events and uniquely recreates a collection of unexplained episodes. These are occurrences that everyone may experience at least once in their lifetime but are often forgotten due to their seemingly minor significance. Beyond the great mysteries of all time (UFOs, pyramids, crop circles), there are small mysteries all around us—we just don’t know how to look.

Albert Einstein once said, "The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious." This theme has been explored countless times in literature, cinema, and television. However, there is a type of mystery that affects us all yet goes unnoticed. Minimal Mysteries seeks to bring these to light and, in its next phase, aims to evolve into a transmedia crowdsourcing project, creating a universal database on this subject.

The series was filmed in Argentina, in the city of Santa Fe and surrounding areas, in April 2018, featuring local technicians and actors such as Julio Di Santi, Melina Bruera, Janise Fladung, and Gustavo Angelini.
